Leaked Apple Foldable iPhone CAD Shows iPad Mini Rival in Pocket Form

A recent leak reveals details about Apple’s upcoming foldable iPhone, codenamed V68, which is expected to launch in September 2026. This device aims to provide an iPad mini-sized experience in a pocket-friendly format. When folded, it features a 5.5-inch outer display, measuring 83.8mm wide and 120.6mm tall, designed for easier portability compared to current smartphones.

When unfolded, the iPhone expands to dimensions of 167.6 x 120.6mm, showcasing a 7.76-inch inner screen with a resolution of 2,713 x 1,920. This setup is suitable for multitasking and note-taking, closely resembling the iPad mini. The device is notably thin at 4.8mm when open, excluding the camera bump, and boasts a crease-free display achieved through advanced microstructure technology.

In comparison to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Apple foldable is slightly thicker, measuring 9.6mm when folded and 4.8mm when opened. This additional thickness allows for the engineering needed to ensure a crease-free experience, along with a durable mixed titanium and aluminum frame.

The design features a wider, squarer profile, making it feel more like a mini tablet than a traditional phone. This design choice enhances grip and usability, particularly when closed. The camera setup includes a dual rear configuration similar to the iPhone 17, focusing on quality. The inner screen also incorporates an under-display selfie camera, eliminating the need for a visible notch and providing an uninterrupted viewing experience.

Overall, these details suggest that Apple has taken its time to learn from competitors before launching its first foldable device.
