Samsung announces Exynos 2600, the world’s first 2nm mobile chip

Samsung has officially announced its Exynos 2600 system-on-chip (SoC), marking the debut of the world’s first 2nm smartphone chip. This new chipset is built using Samsung Foundry’s 2nm GAA process and features a 10-core CPU based on the Arm v9.3 architecture, incorporating Heat Path Block (HPB) technology for improved heat management.

The Exynos 2600’s CPU configuration includes one prime core, three high-performance cores, and six high-efficiency cores. The prime C1-Ultra core operates at 3.8GHz, while the three C1 Pro cores run at 3.25GHz, and the six additional C1 Pro cores function at 2.75GHz. Samsung claims that the new chipset offers a performance boost of up to 39% compared to the Exynos 2500, along with enhanced power efficiency.

In terms of artificial intelligence, the Exynos 2600 introduces a new neural processing unit (NPU) that reportedly improves AI performance by 113% over its predecessor. The chipset also enhances security features, including virtualization security and hardware-backed hybrid post-quantum cryptography.

For gaming, the Exynos 2600 is equipped with the Xclipse 960 GPU, which is said to provide up to 50% higher ray-tracing performance and double the compute performance compared to the Exynos 2500.

In imaging capabilities, the chipset’s image signal processor (ISP) features a new AI-based Visual Perception System (VPS) for better scene and object recognition. It supports camera sensors up to 320MP and includes deep learning-based video noise reduction for improved low-light video capture.

The Exynos 2600 also introduces HPB technology, utilizing High-k EMC material to enhance heat dissipation and maintain high performance during demanding tasks or gaming.

Additional specifications include support for LPDDR5X memory, UFS 4.1 storage, and 4K displays with refresh rates of up to 120Hz.

Samsung is anticipated to integrate the Exynos 2600 into its upcoming Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ flagship models. However, reports regarding its availability are mixed, with some suggesting it will be used globally, while others indicate it may be limited to the Korean market. An official announcement will clarify Samsung’s final plans.
