MANILA, Philippines — Go Digital Philippines (GDP), previously known as Go Digital Pilipinas, has appointed Atty. Mark S. Gorriceta as its new chairman. This change marks a strategic move towards institutional policy reform and aims to accelerate digital transformation in line with the government’s “Bagong Pilipinas” agenda. Gorriceta is the Chairman and Managing Partner of Gorriceta Africa Cauton & Saavedra and serves as a key adviser to leading tech innovators in the country.
Ayhee Campos, the outgoing Chairperson of GDP and current Chairperson of the IT & Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), expressed support for Gorriceta’s leadership, emphasizing his expertise as crucial for the next phase of the movement.
“As we transition into Go Digital Philippines, we are doubling down on our mission to empower every Filipino through technology,” Campos stated. “With Atty. Gorriceta at the helm, we’re positioned to scale our impact and champion the structural reforms that matter for making the Philippines a true global digital hub.”
Gorriceta joins a distinguished Board of Trustees that includes Campos, Donald Patrick Lim, June Cheryl “Chaye” Cabral-Revilla, Jonathan Juan “JJ” D. Moreno, Maria Corazon D. Purisima, and Mishy Co.
The mission of GDP aligns closely with the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028. The initiative originated from a private sector task force convened by the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) – Digital Infrastructure. Henry Aguda, now the Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), led the PSAC-Digital group during the movement’s formation and continues to advocate for digital inclusivity. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has also encouraged international fintech leaders to invest in the Philippines, highlighting Go Digital Philippines as a flagship initiative.
To implement this strategy, GDP recently hosted a high-level roundtable with over 30 leaders from various sectors to identify barriers to digital adoption and competitiveness. The discussions focused on necessary reforms to support local startups, simplify business registration, and enhance Local Government Unit (LGU) innovation programs.
Go Digital Philippines has already initiated meaningful grassroots projects in collaboration with its partners, including a plan to distribute over Php 3 million in laptops to underserved communities, in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation and DICT. Additionally, the Cashless Expo was successfully held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
By 2035, GDP envisions a fully inclusive digital nation, guided by five core pillars: Policy, Access, Capabilities, Entrepreneurship, and Security, which together form a roadmap for sustainable transformation.
