Poco is rumored to launch the M8 Pro in January, with new information suggesting it will closely resemble the upcoming Redmi Note 15 Pro+, differing primarily in its camera setup. According to a tipster, the Poco M8 Pro will feature a 50MP main camera on the rear, replacing the expected 200MP periscope telephoto camera with 4x optical zoom. This raises questions about the accuracy of the information, as it seems unusual to substitute a telephoto camera for a main camera.
Despite the confusion, it appears the Poco M8 Pro will indeed have a 50MP main camera. The device is also expected to come with a 6.83-inch AMOLED display featuring a “1.5K” resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will run on Android 15 with HyperOS 2, which is disappointing given that Android 16 has been available since June, and Xiaomi is already updating its devices to HyperOS 3 based on Android 16.
The Poco M8 Pro is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, along with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. In addition to the 50MP main camera, it will include an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.
The phone is expected to feature a 6,500 mAh battery with 100W fast charging support, an in-display fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, an IR blaster, NFC, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
