Satellite Voice Call Feature Possibly Coming to Samsung Galaxy S26 Series

Before getting too excited, nothing is confirmed yet. Recently, the Samsung Exynos 2600 chip was announced as the first to use a 2nm process. This chip is rumored to power the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8 and potentially the S26 family in at least one country. When the Exynos 2600 was unveiled, Samsung was notably quiet about its modem. Now, details suggest the Exynos Modem 5410 may be part of the Exynos 2600 package.

The Exynos Modem 5410 integrates LTE DTC, NB IoT NTN, and NR NTN on a single chip. NB IoT NTN, or NarrowBand Internet of Things Non-Terrestrial Networks, operates at the lower end of the communication spectrum, providing reliable data transmission for location data or text, even across deserts or oceans. Samsung indicates this feature is certified by Skylo.

LTE DTC, which stands for Long Term Evolution Direct to Cell, is a key feature as it offers extended satellite communication capabilities, including voice. NR NTN, or New Radio Non-Terrestrial Networks, promises enhanced data throughput and may enable satellite video calls in the future.

Currently, there is no confirmation that the Exynos Modem 5410 will be included in the Galaxy S26 series. However, it is considered one of the premium modems from Samsung, built on an advanced 4nm EUV process. It is based on the 3GPP Release 17 standard and supports 5G NR dual connectivity across FR1 sub 6GHz and FR2 mmWave, with peak download speeds up to 14.79Gbps.

In summary, if the Galaxy S26 series includes advanced satellite connectivity, the Exynos Modem 5410 is likely to be a key component.
