Xiaomi has officially launched its latest flagship, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra, alongside a special Leica Edition, at an event in China. This release signifies a significant advancement in the partnership between Xiaomi and Leica. The collaboration has evolved from simple joint development to a “Strategic Co-creation Model,” allowing Leica to play a crucial role throughout the planning and production process. The aim is to enhance mobile photography, leveraging Leica’s extensive optical heritage.
The phone features a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of 1–120Hz, a brightness of up to 3500 nits, and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, making it well-suited for media consumption and gaming. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is also noted as the company’s thinnest Ultra model at just 8.29mm, presented in a sleek, flat design available in Black, White, Cool Smoke Purple, and Starry Green.
In terms of camera specifications, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra includes a 50MP 1-inch main sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 200MP Leica telephoto lens featuring true 75–100mm optical zoom and APO certification for sharper images. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, utilizing Xiaomi’s enhanced IceLoop cooling system. It is equipped with a 6800mAh battery that supports 90W wired and 50W wireless charging.
The Leica Edition distinguishes itself with a premium dual-texture finish, a Leica red-dot badge, and a physical Master Zoom Ring for enhanced camera control. Pricing begins at CNY 6,999, with sales set to commence on December 27.
