One of the unexpected hits of 2025 is *Peak*, a cooperative climbing game developed by Aggro Crab and Landfall in just four months. The game gained significant traction on Twitch and among friend groups captivated by the concept of “friendslop,” a term that gained popularity following the success of 2023’s *Lethal Company*.

Despite the recent surge in cooperative games, Aggro Crab and Landfall did not anticipate the rapid rise in *Peak*’s popularity.

“When we flew to Sweden to release the game with the Landfall team, we were ready to hit the launch button and go into vacation mode,” said Nick Kaman, head of Aggro Crab, in an interview with GamesRadar. “That quickly became a pipe dream.”

Players have embraced the game featuring characters that comically waddle up mountains together, prompting the developers to shift their focus to providing bug fixes, new items, and maps. Six months after its release, *Peak* continues to flourish. Earlier this month, the game featured an in-game concert by rapper bbno$, reminiscent of events in *Fortnite*.

Remarkably, the game retains its charming, game jam-like quality, a point Kaman emphasizes as a vital aspect to preserve. The wobbly character models and opportunities for humorous mistakes contribute to its swift popularity.

*Peak* is fundamentally a comedy game, and Kaman’s open discussion about its nature is commendable, especially as some may not use the term “friendslop” ironically. While the term itself is not universally liked, Kaman acknowledges its embeddedness in the culture surrounding the genre.

Ultimately, the joy that *Peak* has provided to players, including Kaman and his friends, as well as millions of others, remains undeniable. Although Kaman has not specified how long regular updates will continue, he expressed that the team aims to complete all their exciting plans before moving on to their next project.
