Sony Expands PS5 Remote Play Integration to Honda Afeela Electric Vehicle

Electric vehicles (EVs) are now available from nearly every car brand, many featuring similar advanced technologies. However, none currently support PlayStation Remote Play, which allows users to stream PS5 games, until now. The Afeela, an EV introduced by Sony Honda Mobility, will be the first to offer this feature.

Sony Honda Mobility is a joint venture between Sony and Honda, and the Afeela is their inaugural EV. With Sony’s involvement, it is not surprising that the Afeela will soon enable passengers to use Remote Play. The announcement regarding this feature was made on December 18. While in-car gaming is not new—Tesla integrated gaming into its infotainment displays years ago—SHM’s approach is distinct, allowing access to the complete PS5 library.

Remote Play will be accessible directly through the in-car displays. Each front seat has a screen in the back, and Sony indicates that passengers can stream games using these displays and the car’s audio system. Additionally, the feature can be accessed from the front display when the vehicle is parked, providing an entertaining way to pass the time while waiting, such as during charging sessions. To use Remote Play, the PS5 must be powered on, so Afeela owners will need to remember to leave their console on if they plan to stream games. While it remains unclear when this feature will be available to Afeela users, it is expected to roll out sometime in 2026. While it may not be as convenient as cloud streaming options like the Portal, it offers a unique experience nonetheless.
