OnePlus 15R is official, Xiaomi 17 Ultra is going global, Week 51 in review

2025 is nearing its end, and we review the second-to-last week of the year. Xiaomi launched its entire Redmi Note 15 series globally. The OnePlus 15R was also officially unveiled, featuring a large 7,400mAh battery, which is smaller than the Ace 6T’s 8,300mAh battery, along with 80W charging. It has a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 165Hz variable refresh rate. The device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 with 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and offers either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. It comes in Charcoal Black and Mint Breeze, starting at $699/€699/£649 for the 12/256GB variant.

A report has emerged warning of a memory chip crisis that could lead to the return of 4GB RAM phones and the disappearance of 16GB RAM flagships. Samsung is expected to increase midrange phone prices in India due to this shortage, although the report may be overstating the situation.

Honor announced details about its upcoming Win and Win RT smartphones, set to be unveiled on December 26. Both models will feature an in-built fan for cooling. The high-end Win model will include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC and a 6.8-inch LTPS AMOLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate. The Win RT may be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, and one or both models could have a 10,000mAh battery.

A list of unreleased devices and features from Apple was discovered in an early iOS 26 beta. Anticipated products for 2026 include the AirTag 2, a Studio Display 2, a new Apple TV, a tabletop robot, and a HomePod mini 2. The list also mentions the iPad 12 with an A19 SoC, an M4-powered iPad Air, and the iPhone 17e, iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, along with a foldable iPhone. Additionally, new Macs are expected, including an affordable MacBook with an A18 Pro chip and M5 Pro/Max MacBook Pro models.

Xiaomi may unveil its 17 Ultra as soon as December 26, with plans for global availability later.

The Realme 16 Pro series is set to launch on January 6. Designed by Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa, the series features an Urban Wild Design with four color options: Master Grey, Master Gold, Camellia Pink, and Orchid Purple, with the latter two being exclusive to India. The back of the 16 Pro series is made from a bio-based organic silicone material derived from plant-based straw. The camera setup includes a 200MP main shooter, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a periscope telephoto module with 3.5x optical zoom.
