Epic Games has once again showcased its vigilance against online misconduct. Recently, Isaac Strock admitted to illegally obtaining and selling Epic Games accounts. In a public apology, he expressed remorse for his actions, stating that he would like to apologize to the Fortnite community for infringing on the rights of others.
In February, Epic Games took action against Strock, alleging that he “takes control of other players’ Epic Games accounts through fraud,” including attempts to deceive the Epic support team. Strock reportedly managed to sell hundreds of stolen accounts via a Telegram channel, allegedly profiting thousands of dollars from these illicit activities.
These actions were in clear violation of Epic’s End User License Agreement (EULA). After a lengthy legal process, Strock faced consequences for his actions. He acknowledged his wrongdoing, noting that he has been banned from playing Fortnite and is required to pay a monetary settlement that Epic plans to donate to charity.
The apology was shared via the X account of Chucklin Ducklin. Epic also circulated a press release to ensure the community was aware of the proceedings. Additionally, Epic reposted Strock’s message with a reminder that such practices violate the game’s rules.
While the exact amount of the settlement has not been disclosed, it is hoped that it remains reasonable. Legal repercussions might serve as a reminder to individuals considering similar actions, without placing an excessively burdensome financial penalty on them.
