DSWD Advocates for Digital Transformation to Enhance Social Services

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has emphasized that its transition to digital systems and enhanced collaborations with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have accelerated social protection programs nationwide.

In an interview on Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, DSWD Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao mentioned that the agency’s digital shift, particularly through the DSWD HELPS platform, has facilitated faster and more convenient transactions for the public. Under Secretary Rex Gatchalian has streamlined processes such as registration, licensing, and accreditation for social welfare groups.

Additionally, the agency has improved the processing of minor travel abroad permits, making it easier and quicker for families while prioritizing child safety. Clients are encouraged to utilize online services rather than waiting in line for in-person transactions.

Dumlao also noted that the DSWD continues to recognize exemplary NGO and private partners, emphasizing that collaboration is essential to reach more impoverished and vulnerable communities.
