Ahead of the Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s official announcement on December 25, the company has disclosed that the phone features a physical zoom ring around its circular camera island, allowing users to control zooming in a tactile manner.
The official name of the phone appears to be Xiaomi 17 Ultra by Leica, and it will display the iconic red dot Leica logo on its back in at least one colorway.
Previous leaks suggest that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will have three rear cameras, one less than its predecessor. The periscope telephoto lens is expected to support continuous zoom from 3x to 4.3x and may utilize Samsung’s HPE sensor. The main camera is likely to feature a customized 50MP OmniVision 1-inch type sensor, while a 50MP ultrawide camera will use the Samsung JN5 sensor. The device will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC.
