Samsung is reportedly continuing its shift towards in-house processors for its foldable devices, with indications that the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip8 will be equipped with the Exynos 2600 chipset. This report comes from South Korea and follows the recent introduction of the Exynos 2600, the company’s first 2nm mobile processor. The chipset has already been associated with the Galaxy S26 series in select markets, and it seems Samsung intends to extend its use to the next-generation clamshell foldable, expected to be launched in mid-2026.
If this information is accurate, it would represent the second consecutive year that the Z Flip series is powered by an Exynos processor. The Galaxy Z Flip7 was the first foldable device from Samsung to utilize an Exynos chip, specifically the Exynos 2500, making a transition to the Exynos 2600 a logical step.
However, this strategy may not apply to Samsung’s entire foldable lineup. According to the same report, the larger Galaxy Z Fold8 is expected to continue using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, maintaining Samsung’s trend of relying on Qualcomm processors for its premium book-style foldables.
While official confirmation on chipset details for the 2026 foldables is still pending, the report indicates that Samsung is gaining confidence in deploying its latest Exynos processors in high-profile devices, especially as improvements in performance and efficiency are closing the gap with competitors’ chips.
