MANILA, Philippines — The Caloocan City government is set to distribute approximately 10,000 tablets and 1,500 laptops to support public school students and teachers in adapting to new learning methods and enhancing lesson delivery.
The devices will be handed over in bulk to the Schools Division Office, which will manage the distribution to the intended recipients, according to city officials.
Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan emphasized the city’s commitment to advancing the digitalization of educational programs, aiming to provide schools with the necessary tools to cater to the diverse learning needs of students.
“This year, we have 260,960 students, making Caloocan the second-largest school population in Metro Manila. We acknowledge that there are still many improvements needed in the education sector,” Malapitan stated.
“However, it is crucial that we continue our efforts to equip our students in Caloocan with modern tools,” he added.
Malapitan noted that while the city initially focused on building classrooms and facilities, the current goal is to provide more gadgets, IT equipment, smart classrooms, and laboratories to help students keep pace with modern educational demands.
The city aims to complete the distribution of tablets and laptops to beneficiary schools by the end of the year.
