A new significant data center has commenced operations in the Philippines, aimed at bolstering the nation’s growing digital economy. The facility, named ML1 data center, marks the first project of A-FLOW, a collaboration between AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp. and FLOW Digital Infrastructure.
Situated in Biñan, Laguna, approximately 35 kilometers from Manila, this site is the initial phase of three planned buildings within a new campus. Once fully operational, the complex will provide a total power capacity of 36 megawatts, with the current phase offering 6 megawatts dedicated to information technology equipment.
Company executives emphasized the project’s significance for the country’s advancement. A-FLOW President Sanjay Goel stated that the center exemplifies their commitment to the Philippines’ digital transformation, positioning the nation as a crucial data hub in Southeast Asia.
Local government representatives welcomed the investment. Biñan City Mayor Angelo Alonte characterized the opening as a crucial milestone that would drive technological progress and economic growth in the area.
The launch addresses the increasing demand for digital services throughout the region. Industry projections indicate that the need for data centers in Southeast Asia will triple by 2030. Specifically in the Philippines, the market is anticipated to expand by nearly 21 percent annually over the next decade.
The A-FLOW ML1 data center is engineered for flexibility and security, catering to a diverse range of clients from major cloud providers to local enterprises. Its location in Laguna was chosen for its lower risk of natural disasters, and its infrastructure adheres to international standards for reliability.
